Frank Nuttall urges Hearts fans to back team

Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Frank Nuttall has called on the fans to offer positive support to his players in Sunday’s game against Liberty Professionals.

The Phobians have gone seven games without defeat and they were at their exhilarating best last Monday when they beat league leaders WAFA 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Although the game was played on Monday, the fans were there in their numbers to support the team and coach Nuttall says he wants more encouragement from the club’s vociferous unit.

“It is important that the fans support the team and give the players positive support and help them through [out a game] and encourage them,” the head coach told accraheartsofoaksc.com.

“They are human beings, they make mistakes, and they are not going to do everything perfectly.

“When they are watching Hearts of Oak, they should not expect Champions’ level football. The plan is to get them into Championship level and that is the future and that is what we are trying to do but whilst we are here, we need to keep encouraging the players.”

Team Hearts returned to training on Thursday and they will be training on Friday and Saturday in preparation for the final league game of the first round of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League.

“The players trained well because we gave them a day rest on Wednesday and so they trained well on Thursday,” Nuttall continued.

“We have recovered well from the previous game and we have given the players a little bit of time to unwind before we start to wind them up again and ready in preparation and focused for the next game.

“It does not really matter whether it is the last game of the first round, we always try to win. A week after that, we have got another game and a week after that too we have got another game so I think we always focus on the next game and always try to win the next game.”
