Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has already shown what he's capable of at St Pauli but he's not really been able to show his strengths at SC Freiburg.

Coach Christian Streich defended the Black Stars midfielder at the press conference on Thursday.

Streich was questioned if Kyereh is presently experiencing a form crisis. The offensive player's recent performance has been terrible. He started for Freiburg twice in the new year, most recently in the 1-5 loss to Dortmund (substitution in the 60th minute) and the 0-6 loss to Wolfsburg (71st minute out).

Even if the BVB game was undoubtedly different due to the early yellow-red card, it obviously went very badly from Kyereh's point of view.

Streich, on the other hand, does not believe Kyereh is in poor form. The 26-year-old's issue is one of stability. Kyereh had to take several breaks because of injuries or sickness.

As a result, he was not permitted to develop a rhythm. Kyereh's season has been compared to an "elevator" by Streich. Sometimes he goes on a genuine run, such as between matchdays 8 and 9 (three goals in three games in all competitions), and then he gets injured again.

“Kofi is not in a bad shape. It's a full process for me. Everyone sees that he can kick. But there are other things that you don't see directly on the pitch. But we can see that,” says Streich

"He always has to do the exercises, then we can enjoy him."

"Kofi is a totally talented player and is really good for us, also in his individuality. He's technically good, intelligent when playing and sometimes cheeky.” And Kyereh is also a good attacker on the ball if he's in top shape”.

"He could play right from the start because he has the quality." However, the prerequisite for this is that he shows stability in training".
