Frequent changes of technical staff affected my playing career at Asante Kotoko - George Abege

Former Asante Kotoko striker George Abege has disclosed that frequent change of coaching staff affected his playing career at the club.

The 26-year-old's contract with the club was cancelled due to poor performance in the just ended transfer window.

The former Kariobangi Sharks forward struggled for regular playing time since his arrival at the Kumasi-based club from Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks last year.

He was even turned by most clubs for a loan deal, having been deemed surplus to requirement by the Porcupine Warriors for 2019/20 season.

However, after his release from the club, he expressed his disappointment after failing to hit the ground running at the Porcupine Warriors.

"Of course l feel so badly as it wasn't enough... because I believe that if l'd been given more time, I was going to deliver as l believe in myself," the 26-year-old lanky forward retorted in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM when asked of his feelings over his dismissal.

"But now l've to accept what has happened as l ought not to look down or allow a sorrow to take the better part of myself for l've to aim high.

"Factually, I can say that the frequent changes of technical staff also accounted to the situation after having so many coaches for spells of few months. Every coach came in with a new philosophy with a different playing style and so [it] also played a key role although like l indicated earlier on, I don't want to dwell too much on what has happened.

"I'm now going to sit down and analyse things myself, see what went wrong and what went right in order to devise on things that can help me better with the next needed opportunity."
