George Afriyie to contest Kurt Okraku for GFA presidency this year

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie will be contesting in the 2023 Presidential election of the association.

The experienced football administrator contested the last election four years ago but lost to GFA boss Kurt Okraku.

Kurt E.S. Okraku, the incumbent President of the Ghana FA, and the Executive Council will see their mandate expire on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

With just a few months before their mandate expires, persons interested in contesting the GFA presidential election have started popping up.

Today, George Afriyie is the latest to come out.

He believes as GFA President, football in the country will be in a better state than it is now.

This means officially, three people including Kurt Okraku will be contesting in the upcoming GFA presidential election.

The other aspirant is the former Chairman of the Western Regional Football Association, Kojo Yankah.

Early this month, he officially declared his intentions to contest for the Ghana Football Association Presidential seat.
