Formal vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie has emphasized that the vacant presidential seat at the football association should be given to someone who is tried and tested.
According to the experienced football administrator, the situation the GFA finds itself in require someone who has been on the scene for a while and can be relied on to unify all stakeholders of the sports.
Speaking to the media after congress members opted to adopt the new proposed status by the Normalization Committee, George Afriyie shared, “What we need to understand is that if we look at the owners of clubs and the club CEOs and administrators who have gathered here one thing is being supreme, one that they need a unifier, that one they need someone who understands the football”.
He added, “This is not the time for “ma try ma kw3” this is a time for somebody who is tried and tested”.
The Okyeman Planners owner reiterated his desire to contest for the top job at the Ghana Football Association.
“Well in the year 2018, I announced that when the election processes is opened in Ghana for the 2019 elections I will put myself forward for the elections”.
He will face competition from Kurt Okraku, Kudjoe Fianoo, Fred Pappoe, Alhaji Grusah, as well as Nana Yaw Amponsah.
