Ex-Ghana midfielder, Derrick Boateng has indicated that George Afriyie is the right man to occupy the vacant Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential seat.

The football community is in a crucial month where they will be going to the polls to elect a new leader to take over from the Normalization Committee (NC) which was set up to reform the sports after the airing of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Number 12.

George Afriyie, one of the six aspirants who has been cleared to contest in the upcoming elections was in Sunyani over the weekend to launch his manifesto.

Having availed himself at the occasion to offer his support to the Okyeman Planners owner, Derrick Boateng has thrown his weight behind George Afriyie for the top job.

The former Black Stars player shared, “He (George) is a person we all know. He started football not just now and he has the passion for the game and he is really into football. If somebody has to be the GFA President after Kwesi Nyantakyi then I think its George Afriyie because Georg has the passion of the game, he feels the pains of the players and he is also close to the players”.

“For me, sometimes people think football is just a game but for us, it is our life. And if someone will take our game to the next level its George Afriyie. Right now things are not looking good with our football and we need somebody to take it up. George is the right person to do that”.

The GFA presidential elections will come off on October 25, 2019.
