GFA General Secretary bemoans Caf fine due to Cape Coast pitch invader

Ghana Football Association General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has expressed his disappointment after the Association was fined $10,000 for the invasion of the field of play by Awal Suleman.

This incident happened at the Cape Coast Stadium in November last year during Black Stars' 2-0 win over South Africa in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

As a result, the CAF Disciplinary Board fined Ghana an amount of US$10,000 after studying the reports from the match officials.

Suleman, who sprint across the pitch, was sentenced to pay the fine of GH₵2,400 by the Cape Coast Circuit Court for breaching public disturbance laws.

"You remember that CAF fined us 10,000 dollars for the pitch invasion at the Cape Coast Stadium. We have been given 60 days to pay the fine," Addo told Joy FM.

"We could have used the 10,000 dollars for other important things but we are wasting it on one person.

"We see these things in Europe and want to do it not knowing the fines that are charged for it."
