GFA gives breakdown of how they are disbursing FIFA, CAF Covid-19 relief funds

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has in a letter given a breakdown of how it is disbursing the ‘Relief Funds’ received from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).

In the midst of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic which has affected the sports in all parts of the world, FIFA and CAF have extended a helping hand in terms of financial support to the Member Associations.

For the Ghana FA, they have benefited some $1.8 million dollars from both FIFA and CAF to be used to alleviate the financial headache caused by the Coronavirus crisis.

In a breakdown of the cash, the following subsidiaries under the GFA are benefiting various amounts of money from the funds.

  • Premier League clubs
  • Division One League clubs
  • Women's Premier League clubs
  • Regional Football Associations
  • Schools and Colleges
  • Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG)
  • Referees Association of Ghana (RAG)
  • Coaches Association of Ghana
  • Beach Soccer Association
  • Futsal Association
  • The Security Services Sports Association (SESSA)
  • Juvenile Clubs Association

Meanwhile, portions of the funds have been set aside for the various national team as well. According to the Ghana FA, the money will be used to cater for camping and other expenses that may be required when international football resumes.
