GFA Players’ Status Committee orders Kotoko to pay Maxwell Konadu $40,000

The Players' Status Committee (PSC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ordered Asante Kotoko to pay its former coach, Maxwell Konadu, over $40,000 for terminating his contract unilaterally.

The PSC characterized management's decision to fire Konadu as "hasty, premature, and without just cause" in a ruling obtained by JoySports.

Following the club's decision to part ways with him on December 17, 2020, following a 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics, Maxwell Konadu lodged a petition with the football governing body.

According to Asante Kotoko's sack letter, the former Black assistant coach's dismissal was due to his ‘inability to exhibit a high level of performance which will prepare the team to the height it deserves to be,’

Maxwell said that his dismissal was unjustified, and he demanded $60,000 in penalties, as well as a one-year pension of $36,000, the balance of a GH 30,000 sign-on charge, and a GH 2,000 winning bonus.

The Players Status Committee awarded partial reliefs, denying Maxwell's appeal for $60,000 in damages but ruling that Kotoko could cover the remainder of Maxwell's reliefs.
