GFA presidential elections: George Afriyie launches manifesto in Sunyani

Published on: 05 October 2019

One of the six candidates for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections, George Afriyie has today launched his highly anticipated ‘RESTORATION’ manifesto at a grand ceremony in Sunyani.

The owner of Okyeman Planners is hoping to be elected as the new leader of the football governing body in order to have the opportunity of steering the affairs of the association when the Normalization Committee (NC) leaves office.

The grand event saw almost all the big guns in the football circle gathering in the Brong Ahafo Regional capital. Dreams FC owner Kurt Okraku whose candidacy has also been legitimized graced the manifesto launch to reciprocate the courtesy George Afriyie showed him a couple of weeks ago.

At the manifesto launch today, Mr. Afriyie stressed on many policies he plans to implement to restore the GFA to where it belongs when given the opportunity to occupy the vacant seat.

Prior to the main event, there were games organized where the presidential aspirant shared footballs to players to demonstrate his commitment to ensuring that every player will have a ball once he becomes president.

George Afriyie is advocating for transparency, the introduction of IT to Congress, setting up a board to manage colts football, effective and strong match review panel, as well as some other initiatives that will revive the lost glory of the FA.

Ahead of the October 25 polls, George Afriyie is facing competition from Kurt Okraku, Lawyer Amanda Clinton, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Fred Pappoe, and Lawyer George Ankomah Mensah.
