GFA presidential race: Solving credibility and integrity issues will attract sponsorship – Fred Pappoe

Published on: 22 October 2019

Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential candidate, Mr. Fred Pappoe has shared that he is of the firm belief that once the football community solves its credibility and integrity issues it will attract sponsors to invest in the sport.

The running of football in the country in the last 5 years has been very difficult with the GFA finding it almost impossible to get any corporate entity to come on board as a headline sponsor.

Another issue that has hindered the promotion of the game has to do with the kind of media organization holding the right to telecast the League matches. Though StarTimes took over before the GFA was crippled, it is still an area that needs to be looked at as it contributes immensely to the progress of football.

Speaking at the debate organized for the candidates of the upcoming election, Mr. Fred Pappoe has explained that restoring the integrity of the FA and adopting proper marking strategies will bring the required sponsorship.

“TV rights cannot be attracted when we have credibility and integrity issues. We need to solve these issues before we can attract these sponsors”.

“We have to make sure the product is marketable before we can attract TV rights by marketing the products very well”, the formal GFA vice president shared.

He is competing with George Afriyie, Kurt Okraku, Lawyer George Ankomah Mensah, Nana Yaw Amponsah, and Lawyer Amanda Clinton for the vacant presidential seat.
