Reigning GHALCA G8 champions, Dreams FC kicked off the 2018 Startimes GFA Gala after recording an impressive 2 – 0 victory over Samartex FC at the Ndoum Stadium on Saturday night.

The game which kicked off at 6pm was played over two halves of 20 minutes under flood lights.

Both sides came out strong from the blast of the whistle with Samartex getting Zito’s lads to work more for the ball in the opening minutes of the match.

The Premier League returnees got the opener from Issah Yakubu’s stupendous strike from over 30 yards out, completely beating goalkeeper Kofi Mensah in the post for the Division One League side.

Striker Richard Addae was shy of getting unto the scoresheet as his effort against an empty post flew high above the post, triggering an animated reaction from the technical bench.

In the second half, Rashid Sani was the most pressing upfront, troubling the Samartex defense all evening with assistance from Leonard Owusu.

Substitute Samuel Alarbi sealed the victory for Dreams with a classic finish on the stroke of full time to give Zito a good win in Elmina.

Dreams FC play Bechem United in the next round of the competition on Sunday afternoon,
