Accra Hearts of Oak progressed to the finals of the GHALCA 8 after beating Kotoko 4-3 on penalties.

Following a goalless game after 90 minutes, both teams took to the spot to decide the winner.

Malik Akowah scored the winning penalty for Hearts of Oak after Kotoko skipper Eric Donkor had missed his kick early on.

Hearts of Oak now awaits the winner between Medeama and Dreams FC.

Kotoko thus missed a chance to defend the trophy they won last year.

The win also serves as a revenge for Hearts who lost to their rivals in the finals of the MTN FA Cup.
