The Black Stars defender suffered a knee injury in March in a Premier League game against West Ham and was ruled out of the 2022/23 season.

Lamptey in an interview with Citi FM disclosed he will soon return to the field.

“Towards the end of the season, I suffered something (of a) small (injury), but I am working hard on recovery and I should be back soon.”

“I just have to just keep working hard and it’s nothing too serious,” Lamptey said.

The former Chelsea right-back missed Ghana's doubleheader against Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in March.

He was replaced by German-born Kingsley Schindler by Black Stars coach Chris Hughton in March for the AFCON qualifiers.

The pacey right-back is expected to miss the upcoming qualifier against Madagascar scheduled for June 18, 2023.

Tariq Lamptey made 23 appearances in all competitions in the just ended season, scoring just a goal.
