Ghana-born coach Kwame Ampadu will take charge of Arsenal U18 side for next season’s English Youth League following the departure of Arsenal legend Thiery Henry.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed on Tuesday how the club’s all-time record goalscorer Henry, who had been working with Arsenal’s Under 18s, had been told by manager Arsene Wenger that he could only take up a full-time coaching role with the academy if he relinquished his role as a pundit on Sky Sports.

Henry has been working unofficially with the Gunners over the past 18 months, firstly working with the club’s Under 15s before being promoted to a role with the Under 18s last season as he completed his UEFA coaching badges.

Indeed, Henry had been offered a full-time role by academy director Andries Jonker working with the U18s, where he would assist Kwame Ampadu ahead of the new season.
