Australian professional soccer club Melbourne City are set to make an audacious bid for Ghana coach Avram Grant whose contract as Black Stars coach expires next month.

Management of the A-League club are embarking on a quick move to replace John Van’t Schip, who shocked everyone by resigning on Tuesday.

Van’t Schip returned to the Netherlands to be with his ill father, with City immediately inundated with a host of applications within 24 hours of the announcement.

According to reports, Adelaide United coach Gui Amor is a key contender. However, a long list is also being considered.

Avram Grant, who is currently preparing Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations, Alan Curbishley, Steve Bruce, who is with Aston Villa, Kenny Dalglish, Dennis Wise, Gordon Strachan or David Jones who coached Cardiff against Portsmouth back in 2008.

Avram Grant has been linked to a couple of coaching jobs recently indicating he will not renew his contract with Ghana should the FA open up talks for a renewal.

Ghanaians have lost confidence in the Israeli who has failed to win any of his last six games with the Black Stars prior to the Africa Cup of Nations leaving the GFA adamant to offer him a new contract.

The Ghana Football Association have tasked Grant to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Failure to do so will only mean he has to look elsewhere.
