The national U-17 national team, the Black Starlets brushed aside their Ivorian counterparts 3-1 in the first-leg of the AFCON 2017 qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.

Skipper Eric Eyiah opened the scoring for Ghana and was also a vital architect to the second goal before the break.

After the break, the Starlets went into cruise control after scoring the third but they were stunned moments later when the Ivorians scored a vital away goal.

The Ghanaian players could be seen dejected on the pitch after the final whistle went.

The Starlets will travel to Cote d'Ivoire in a fortnight to play in the second leg.

Ghana has missed-out on the last three U-17 AFCON Championships.
