Ghana international Alexander Djiku has noted that being compared to Dutch centre-back Virgil Van Dijk is rewarding.
The French-born defender has been in outstanding form for Racing Strasbourg this season and continues to receive plaudits.
Recently, the Black Stars defender has been compared to Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk as a result of his displays at both club and national team level.
Reacting to those comparisons, Alexander Djiku says it is really exciting.
“I saw this [Van Dijk comparison] on social networks, it made me laugh a lot,” the centre-back said while adding “Now you have to know if I am called like that in relation to my last name or my performance? At the moment, it can be my performance, it's okay.
“I also learned that a commentator had used it during a match, which is positive. Van Dijk is the best among central defenders, he has exploded in three to four seasons at the international level, so being compared to him is necessarily rewarding.”
This season, Alexander Djiku has made 22 appearances for Racing Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1.
He has been one of the team’s standout players and hopes to help the club avoid relegation at the end of the season.
