Ghana defender Daniel Amartey features in Leicetser City’s Asian Trophy Cup win over West Brom

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey played 45 minutes as Leicester City beat West Bromwich Albion in the Asian Trophy Cup to progress to the finals.

Amartey came on in the second half to replace Danny Simpson and impressed as his side beat fellow premier league side West Brom.

West Brom’s new signing from Southampton Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring in the tenth minute when he struck from 25 yards.

However, Africa Player of the year Riyad Mahrez got the equalizer for the foxes that forced the games to penalties.

Both sides scored their first six penalties before goalkeeper Ben Hamer saved Sam Field’s penalty allowing Marc Albrighton to grab the winner for Leicester City.

Daniel Amartey and his Leicester teammates will next face Liverpool in the finals who beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the Asian Trophy Cup.
