Ghana duo Denis Odoi, Kamal Sowah feature as Club Brugge suffer Benfica defeat in UEFA Champions League
Ghanaian duo of Denis Odoi and Kamal Sowah were in action for Club Brugge during their clash with Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.
The pair were handed starting role but could not last the entire duration as Club Brugge suffered a 2-0 defeat against Benfica at the Jan Breydel stadion on Wednesday night.
After a pulsating goalless draw in the first half, the visitors shot into the lead through Joao Mário who scored in the 51st minute mark.
Two minutes to full time, Benfica doubled their lead through David Neres to make it 2-0 as the visitors cruised to an important victory at way in the first leg.
Odoi started in midfield in a 4-2-3-1 system, with Kamal Sowah operating from the flanks.
The Black Stars right-back lasted 65 minute whiles Kamal Sowah played 79 minute in the tie.
The duo are expected to make the Black Stars squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set for next month.
