Ghana FA reject Kotoko’s request to move home venue to Aliu Mahama Stadium

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rejected Asante Kotoko’s request to move the team’s home grounds to the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

Prior to the start of the 2020/2021 Ghanaian football season, the Porcupine Warriors club submitted the Accra Sports Stadium to the GFA as their preferred home venue as a result of ongoing renovation works at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

As a result of a number of clubs also using the Accra grounds, Asante Kotoko has earlier this week written to the country’s football governing body seeking to move their home venue to the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

Today, reports picked up from Oyerepa FM has indicated that the Ghana FA has rejected the request for the Kumasi-based club.

It is understood that the GFA is not buying the reasons given by Asante Kotoko and has asked the club to continue using the Accra Sports Stadium.

Meanwhile, sources say that the Reds will write to the Ghana FA again to insist on the venue change.
