Ghana FA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum says his outfit faces an intense pressure to appoint a competent coach for the Black Stars.

The domestic football governing body has been on a hunt for a new coach following the resignation of Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars after the World Cup.

As reported earlier this month, the FA had received over 60 applications from expatriate coaches for the vacant job.

But Henry Asante Twum in an interview with GHOne TV confirmed that over 1000 applications have been received so far for the vacant job.

According to him, there is pressure to appoint a competent trainer for the national team.

"We haven’t made any shortlist and at the right time we will", he said.

He added that the Ghana FA will appoint a competent coach irrespective of race or color.

"The job is opened for all. Once you are a competent coach.

"There is pressure to appoint a competent coach. We are not looking at race or color but just a competent coach"

"Over 1000 coaches have applied for the job. We keep getting applications each and every day",
