The Black Stars of Ghana have held onto their 53rd position in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.

Ghana having dropped eight places last month maintained their position in the world ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite booking a place at the 2017 Cup of Nations in Gabon and tasting no defeat in the process, the Black stars also ended the year 2016 with no win in as many as six games leaving them in ninth place on the continent.

Avram Grant and his charges however have the chance to move up the table should they excel at the Afcon where they have been paired in group D with Egypt, Uganda and Mali.

The latest FIFA ranking sees Senegal lead the log on the continent with Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria following in that order while Argentina still holds onto the top spot with Brazil and Germany following in second and third place respectively.
