Ghana international John Boye to start for FC Metz against Monaco

Ghana international John Boye is set to start for FC Metz in their French Ligue 1 fixture against AS Monaco on Saturday.

According to coach Vincent Hognon, the 32-year-old is an important player for the club and could be handed a starting berth in their match day two fixture.

He missed Metz’s Ligue I opener against Strasbourg which ended in a 1-1 stalemate at the Stade de La Menau.

He rejoined his teammates late due to his participation at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations  with the Black Stars of Ghana.

But, he is expected to start in place of Malian center back Mamadou Fofana.

"He already was. Only his preparation had been cut short and there were things that had given me satisfaction in the preparation and I decided to continue like this but, obviously, John is an important player," he said in a pre match interview.

Boye played an instrumental role in Metz's promotion to the Ligue 1.
