Ghana international Thomas Partey urges Atletico Madrid to keep working hard

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is confident Atletico Madrid will return to winning ways soon if they keep working hard following their 2-2 draw with Valencia on Friday night in the Spanish La Liga.

Los Rojiblancos were held to a draw in their match week 24 encounter at the Mestalla Stadium as they leapfrogged Sevilla to 4th on the league table with 40 points.

Marcos Llorente opened the scoring for Atletico from close range, but Gabriel Paulista headed an equaliser in the 40th minute of the game.

Thomas Partey scored a sublime goal to double the away side's lead from 20 yards but Geoffrey Kondogbia's scrambled finish levelled the score 18 minutes later.

Both sides had chances to win in a dramatic finale but failed to convert them as the game ended 2-2.

“Valencia play well and are strong at their stadium," Partey told the club website after the match.

"They had the ball and we tried to play our game.

"We have to keep working hard because results will come if we do so."

Atletico Madrid will face defending champions Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie at home on Tuesday.
