Ghanaian International, Majeed Ashimeru has expressed delight after penning a new five-year contract extension with Austrian side Red Bulls Salzburg.

The former Ghana youth star after impressing several on loans spells in the past couple of seasons has been tied down to the club with a long term contract that will see him at the club until May 31, 2024.

Speaking in an interview after signing the new contract, the midfielder shared that he is happy with the new deal and is already looking forward to the season ahead.

According to him, he is hoping to cement a place in the team's starting lineup to ensure he gets enough playing time when the 2019/2020 league season commences.

“I am very happy to be in Salzburg now, and I am looking forward to the season ahead. I want to help contribute to us playing good and successful football”.

“I have to thank the club for the great faith they have placed in me, and I will do everything I can to pay this back”, he shared.

The former West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) player joined the Austrian side in 2017 but is yet to play a full season for the side.

Last season he went on loan to Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen where he managed to find the back of the net four times and provided ten assists.
