The midfielder in the final week of the summer transfer window was not in the plans of the Viola.

All indications pointed to the fact that officials of Fiorentina were keen on offloading him due to the abundance of midfielders at the club.

With Alfred Duncan staying to fight for a place in the team, he has so far succeeded and continues to be called upon to start in matches.

It was no different last night when he was handed a starting role in midfield when Fiorentina hosted Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan.

He put up a good performance but his team could not stop the opponent from winning.

Goals from Darmian, Edwin Dzeko, and Ivan Perisic made sure Inter Milan came from a goal down to win 3-1 at the end of the contest.
