Ghana international Thomas Partey put up an outstanding performance on Tuesday night as he helped his Arsenal outfit to come from behind to defeat Southampton 3-1.

The combative midfielder who recently regained his full fitness started the game today at the St. Mary's Stadium having been handed a starting role by his manager Mikel Arteta.

As a result of a slow start to the match, Arsenal trailed after just 3 minutes of play when Stuart Armstrong smashed home his effort after connecting to a corner kick from James Ward-Prowse.

Now behind, Arsenal staged a comeback with Thomas Partey playing a key role in the middle of the park.

In the 8th minute, Nicolas Pepe scored to draw level for the visitors before a Bukayo Saka equalizer in the 39th minute shot Arsenal into the lead for the first time in the game.

After recess, the away team defended well while controlling the match with the help of midfield dynamo Thomas Partey.

Later in the 73rd minute, French striker Alexandre Lacazette found the back of the net to seal what will end as a 3-1 win for Arsenal eventually.

On the matchday, Thomas Partey played 78 minutes of the action before his place was taken by Mohamed Elneny.

He earned high marks with his solid performance in midfield playing a big role in his team’s win.
