Ghana Premier League 2020/21: All you need to know

The Ghana Premier League makes its long awaited return after going a few months out.

Here are some key questions we have answered.

When does the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season start?

The season starts on Friday November 13 after just a few months without football following the truncation of the 2019/20 campaign, which was caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

When will the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season finish?

The season is scheduled to finish on the weekend of 16-18 July, 2021.

Who is up, who is down?

Since the season was truncated, no team was relegated and no team was promoted from the division 1 league.

Will the fans be allowed in the stadium?

According to a directive from President Nana Akuffo Addo, 25% of the stadium capacity is allowed to be filled.

Which changes should we expect?

The players and Club officials have been instructed to do regular testing for COVID-19 and that is expected to be done throughout the season. Also, there will be social distancing protocols observed in stadia this season to combat the pandemic.

When will the transfer window open?

The transfer window opened on August 15, 2020 and has been scheduled to end on October 31, 2020.

When will the Kotoko v Hearts clash come off?

The two teams will lock horns for the first time in match day 14 (12-15 Feb, 2021). The return fixture will come off in match day 31 (25-28 June, 2021).
