Ghana Premier League games should be suspended- George Weah

Former Liberia international footballer, George Oppong Weah has asked the Ghana Football Association and the Premier League Board to suspend the weekends Ghana Premier games following Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s horrific accident on Wednesday evening.

The Porcupine Warriors were involved in an accident on the Nkawkaw highway claiming the life of their equipment officer, Mr. Obeng Asare and injuring several players including technical team members Coach Steve Pollack and team manger Godwin Ablordey.

According the former FIFA world best player, all clubs shouldbe refrained from honouring league games in show of solidarity to Kotoko and the family of the deceased.

“Imagine I was on the bus, my family might be devastated and to see the team going to play again it, people may think they don’t care. I think the games should be suspended,” he told Metro TV’s Sports File.

Meanwhile, the Premier League Board has directed that all league games should be played on Sunday excluding the super clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

All clubs will also observe a minute silent for the deceased before kickoff.

The games were earlier scheduled for Saturday but due to the unfortunate events of the pass few days the rearrangement were made by the Premier League Board.
