Ghana Premier League matchday 12 preview: Kotoko v Bechem United

Published on: 27 February 2020

Asante Kotoko look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Bechem United, a side that have struggled away to their new home ground in Accra.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium was closed down by the NSA for some maintenance work and the reopening date is uncertain. The Porcupine Warriors will have to get used to the Accra Sports Stadium for the rest of the season.

Kotoko fell to a 1-0 defeat against Aduana Stars in their previous matchday, ending an impressive six game unbeaten streak. The Kumasi-based outfit have scored 10 goals in the league so far (0.9 goals per game) and conceded six (0.54 goals per game).

Maxwell Konadu’s side are currently in 5th place with 18 points, just three behind pacesetters AshantiGold. A win over Bechem will bring smiles to their fans once again.

Bechem United are on a roller coaster, winning two of their last five games (W2 D1 L2) and want to spark a more positive change as they travel to face Kotoko.

They did beat Liberty Professionals 2-1 on matchday 11 but were on a three game winless streak before then (L2 D1).

The Hunters will look to 16 year old Prince Adu Kwabena for goals. The striker has netted 8 goals so far. Bechem are currently 6th on the log with 17 points.

They have found the net on 13 occasions (1.18 goals per game) and conceded two less (1 goal per game).

In their last five meetings, Kotoko have won two and lost two (W2 D1 L2).
