Ghana Premier League Matchday 9 report: WAFA and King Faisal share the spoils

The Academy boys extended their admirable away record after earning a 1-1 draw against struggling side King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

King Faisal started brightly in the opening stages with Ibrahim Osman coming close to scoring. The forward lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper but his effort came off the woodwork.

The visitors slowly settled in but were unable to break the hosts down in the first half.

King Faisal came out with all guns blazing at the beginning of the second half but were unable to trouble the WAFA goalkeeper.

The Sogakope-based club came into the game and were awarded with a penalty after Eric Asamany was tripped in the box in the 66th minute.

Abubakari Ibrahim was tasked to finish it from 12 yards one minute later and he made no mistake, giving the Academy boys the lead.

The Insha Allah boys pushed hard for the equalizer and got the opportunity in the 90th minute after Moya won a penalty.

Mustapha Mohammed was designated to take spot kick and comfortably dispatched it for the hosts in the 92nd minute.

King Faisal are still without a win in the competition after nine games. WAFA are unbeaten in five away games this season (2W 3D).

WAFA have moved up to 6th place with 14 points and King Faisal remain rock bottom with four points.
