Ghana Premier League top scorer Mezack Afriyie lands in Belgium to complete KAA Gent move

Ghanaian striker Mezack Afriyie, who currently tops the scoring charts in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, is set to complete a move to Belgian giants KAA Gent.

The 19-year-old was spotted in Belgium as sports journalist Shaban Mohammed posted a picture of him posing by a training facility.

Afriyie has been in excellent form for his club Berekum Chelsea, scoring 11 goals in 22 matches in the Ghanaian top flight. His performances have helped Berekum Chelsea to an 8th place position on the league table with 34 points from 25 games.

In his last match for Berekum Chelsea, Afriyie played the full 90 minutes in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium, where he was unable to add to his goal tally.

Despite only playing in his first professional season, Afriyie has caught the attention of KAA Gent, who are currently leading the Belgian Pro League. He is expected to become one of many Ghana Premier League top scorers to leave the country mid-season.

Afriyie's move to KAA Gent will provide a significant opportunity for him to further develop his skills and take his career to the next level. The young striker will be hoping to replicate his impressive goal-scoring form in the Ghanaian top flight for his new team in Belgium.
