Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan reveals he nearly quit football

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed he nearly hanged his boots following his consistent injuries.

Gyan for some years now have been battling with various degrees of injuries.

This obviously has affected his display and the iconic Ghana striker is not as sharp as he used to be.

The 31-year old in an exclusive interview with Accra based station Hot FM noted that he nearly quit football.

“I was a bit frustrated to the extent that the woman (wife) asked me to quit," he told Accra-based Hot FM

"I nearly quit the game due to the recurrent injuries. But sometimes you have to be mentally tough to surmount the challenges.

“It was a huge challenge but I'm glad I'm a fighter and keeps fighting. I am sure I can play for many years.

'One thing about football is about dedication.If you have the passion and are dedicated, you can rise above the storm no matter the difficulties."
