The Black Stars much-anticipated game against neighbours, Ivory Coast is expected to revive the rivalry between the two West Africa Powerhouses.

Ghana will host Ivory Coast at the Cape Coast stadium on Saturday in a friendly match.

The two country have a rich football history that dates back to the sixties, but in recent times, games between the two teams have moved from just friendly encounters to serious rivalry.

Ivory Coast are currently on a run of three straight victories and unbeaten in five consecutive encounters against the Black Stars. They have recorded four wins and a draw in the process.

Ghana have also lost the two finals of the Africa Cup of Nations to the Ivorians, first in 1992 and recently in 2015, both on penalty shootouts.

The game on Saturday is expected to rekindle competition amongst two of West African great teams.

Ghana has played the Ivory Coast 42 times, with the Elephants having the edge over their neighbours, having won 16 times and drawn 11 games. They've lost 15 times to the Black Stars.

The two parties last met in 2015 in the final of the AFCON where Ivory Coast emerged as champions after a marathon of penalties.
