Ghanaian coaches need to modernize to catch up - Avram Grant

Black Stars head coach Avram Grant has charged Ghanaian coaches to modernize their techniques in order to catch up with the expatriates.

Local coaches in Ghana have not been trusted with responsibilities in recent times a challenge Grant believes can change if the coaches improve.

Grant who led Ghana to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, believes the local coaches can get to the highest level and compete globally if they modernize their approach towards the game.

“I did some meetings for local coaches in Ghana and the questions were good questions,” he says. “But you saw also a lack of experience. It’s a lack of exposure to the world. It’s not they are not clever. Some of them are very clever but they don’t know what kind of training you are doing in other countries.”

Kwesi Appiah is the only Ghanaian coach to lead the Black Stars to the World Cup but lost his job right after the tournament.
