Ghanaian defender Lalas Abubakar has expressed his desire to stay with his new club side Colorado Rapids following an impressive season in the Major League Soccer.

Abubakar joined Colorado Rapids from fellow MLS side Columbus Crew on a six-month loan deal and was a rock at the heart of defense for the side.

The 24-year-old was crowned Colorado Rapids Defender of the Year at the end of the regular season, having made 22 appearances and helping the side to a 9th finish in the Western Conference.

Speaking an interview with Kickgh.com, he disclosed that he will love to continue playing for his current club and make his stay permanent since he's been well received in his new home.

"I wish to stay with Colorado Rapids but I'm well informed that Columbus still want me back," he said.

"Colorado Rapids have cherished me so well since going there and I believe my development will grow well with Colorado Rapids and I just want to continue with them."
