Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Leeroy Owusu has departed Willem II Tilburg as his contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

The exit of the 26-year-old right-back will bring an end to his three-year stint with the club since joining in 2020 from De Graafschap.

Owusu was instrumental for Willem II Tilburg in their push for a return to the Dutch Eredivisie in the just-concluded 2022/23 season but failed.

They were beaten by Venlo in the playoffs at the end of May on penalties after a two-legged game.

Owusu has featured in 38 games in the Dutch second tier, scoring two goals and providing six assists.

He confirmed his departure in a social media post, saying he is confident that the club will return to the Eredivisie in the not-so-distant future.

Leeroy Owusu has made a total of 102 appearances for Willem II Tilburg in the last three years, scoring two goals and providing 12 assists.
