Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei mutually part ways with New York Red Bulls

Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei has mutually terminated his contract with American club New York Red Bulls II after seven months.

The former Inter Allies skipper joined the Youth side of the Major League Soccer club, New York Red Bulls in February on a free transfer.

"New York Red Bulls II and Wahab Ackwei mutually agree to terminate the defender’s contract" the club's official statement reads.

According to reports, several European clubs have expressed interest in signing the 21-year-old during the next transfer window.

He played in seven games for NYRB II this season, starting five of them, tallying 452 minutes total and one assist.
