Ghanaian-born Italian forward Kelvin Yeboah found the back of the net for Standard Liege in their 4-1 loss to Gent in the Belgian First Division on Saturday evening.
The match marked the 48th meeting between the two teams, with Standard Liege having 15 wins, Gent 27 wins, and 6 draws in their head-to-head record.
Yeboah, who has been a key player for Standard Liege this season, started the game at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne and played for 81 minutes. Despite his team being outpossessed and outshot by Gent, Yeboah was able to make an impact in the 17th minute. He received a pass from Matthieu Epolo and fired a left-footed shot from the center of the box into the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1.
However, it was Matias Fernandez-Pardo who stole the show for Gent, scoring two goals in the 10th and 66th minutes. Laurent Depoitre added two more goals for Gent in the 80th and 97th minutes, securing a comfortable victory for his team.
Yeboah has been in impressive form for Standard Liege this season, making 14 appearances, scoring six goals, and providing two assists in the Belgian First Division.
