Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang set for West Ham first-team promotion after stellar season

Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang is set for first-team promotion at West Ham United following his exploits with the U-23 side in the Premier League 2.

Annan has been of the standout youngsters at the club, making 17 appearances and keeping eight clean-sheets in the process.

He has conceded 18 goals and has not lost in any of the matches as the Young Hammers sit at the summit of Premier League 2 table with 43 points, three points above second-placed Manchester United.

He penned a three-year professional contract with the club which will keep him until summer 2021 in July and with first choice Lukasz Fabianski nearing the end of his contract, Anang is expected to gain first-team promotion ahead of next season.

The 19-year-old was part of the first team pre-season ahead of the 2019/20 season.

He is yet to make his first-team debut and is eligible to play for Ghana despite featuring for England’s U-20 side once.

Meanwhile, the Premier League 2 has been suspended by the English Football Association following the outbreak of coronavirus.
