Ghanaian youth star Hiram Boateng has been voted Crystal Palace U21 Player of the Year.

The midfielder excelled on loan at Plymouth Argyle for the majority of this campaign, and has helped the Pilgrims into the League Two play-offs during his 29 appearances in Devon.

As well as this, after being recalled to the Eagles just before Christmas he made his Premier League debut for the club against Swansea City in February before finishing off the campaign back at Argyle.

The Palace academy graduate couldn't be at the awards ceremony in Leicester Square tonight as he is playing in Plymouth's play-off semi-final first leg against Portsmouth, but in a pre-recorded message he said: "It's been a really good season for me out out on loan but playing in that Premier League game against Swansea City was one of the best aspects of it.

"I'd like to say a really big thank you again to everyone at the club for giving me this award."
