Ghanaian International Baba Idrissu Mohammed has sealed Spanish La Liga promotion with his side, Real Mallorca after playing a key role to help them beat Deportivo La Coruna in the playoffs.

The team which has been playing in the second tier league for the past 6 years overturned a two-goal deficit over the weekend to confirm their promotion into the top-flight next season.

Deportivo La Coruna beat Real Mallorca 2-0 in the first leg last week Thursday and looked set to return to the Spanish La Liga following their relegation into the lower division at the end of last season.

At the end of the second leg of the tier which was played at the Estadi de Son Moix on Sunday, June 23, 2019, it was Real Mallorca who defied all odds and defeated their opponent 3-0 to secure promotion.

Striker Ante Budimir gave the winners the lead on the 21st minute before veteran Spanish midfielder Salva Sevilla added a second in the second half to draw the teams level on aggregate.

With the match edging towards the 90th minute, Ghanaian midfielder Baba Mohammed assisted Abdon Prats with a timed pass which he slotted into the back of the net to give Mallorca the needed win.

The victory means Real Mallorca has joined Osasuna and Granada as the teams that have gained promotion to play in the Spanish La Liga in the 2019/2020 season.

Baba Mohammed who made 16 appearances for the side during the regular league season is expected to be a key member of the side as they make arrangements for pre-season in anticipation to what will be a tough season for the newcomers in the Spanish La Liga.
