Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng takes pay cut at Hapoel Tel Aviv to prevent contract termination

Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng has taken a pay cut at Hapoel Tel Aviv to avoid his contract from being terminated.

Many clubs in Europe have been hit financially following the outbreak of coronavirus with clubs expected to slash players salaries.

The highly-rated midfielder has accepted a pay cut to avoid his contract being terminated after his team mates, Marvin Pressman and Felipe Rodrigues had their contracts cancelled by Hapoel Tel Aviv after the duo failed to accept a pay cut, the club announced on Wednesday.

Michael Oulha and Boateng were the other players to have not be released by the club.

According to a club official the decision to terminate the contracts of the two players is backed by legal action.

"Like all players, they also received a demand for a cut. Because their refusal was sent to them, we received legal advice that this was legal."
