English-born Ghanaian midfielder Kwame Poku Afriyie Adubofour has been nominated for three awards at Colchester United.

Adubofour was one of the consistent performers for the club in League two, featuring in 29 games, scoring five goals and providing four assists as they finished sixth in the just-ended season.

He has been shortlisted for the prestigious Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Year awards, according to Graphic Sports Online.

Poku will compete with Tom Eastman, Cohen Bramall, Luke Prosser, Dean Gerken, and Theo Robinson for the Player of the Year award, whereas he battles Cohen Bramall, Ryan Clampin, and Noah Chilvers for the Young Player of the Year gong.

His beautiful solo strike in Colchester United’s 2-1 away win over Salford City at Moor Lane on February 22, 2020, has also been nominated as a Goal of the Year contender.

Colchester United’s annual season dinner to reward deserving players will not take place physically this year at the JobServe Community Stadium due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but their supporters are to vote on the club's website and other media platforms for the winners will be handed their awards privately.

Poku joined the club as a free agent last summer, having previously played for Cray Wanderers and Worthington FC.

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, he is eligible to play for both England and Ghana in international level.
