Ghana international Michael Essien has commenced training with his new club Sabail FK as he gets his football career in Azerbaijan underway.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea ace joined his new teammates at the Bayil Arena on Friday night in their last group training ahead of their match with Zira FK.
Essien joined the Azerbaijani top-flight club on a year deal on a free transfer earlier this month after he was without a club since terminating his contract with Persib Bandung in March 2018.
The 36-year-old midfielder has previously played for several European clubs including Chelsea, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Olympique Lyon.
