Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey in action as Atletico Madrid lose at Eibar

Ghana international Thomas Partey played full throttle as Atletico Madrid suffered a 2-0 away defeat to Eibar in the La Liga on Saturday night.

Partey again put up an incredible performance but it was enough as the Los Rojiblancos recorded their third defeat of the on-going 2019/20 league season in their match day 20 encounter.

A goal piece from Esteban Burgos and Edu Exposito helped the home side secure the maximum points at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.

The Ghanaian bossed the midfield with a high 97 touches on the ball - the most of any player on the pitch - and 64 accurate passes (79%).

The 26-year-old also showed his prowess in the air once again, winning seven of eight aerial duels.

He made one tackle, two interceptions, three clearances and was not dribbled past.

The result leaves Atleti at the 3rd third place, tied on 35 points with Sevilla who lost to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Diego Simeone's side will turn their attention switch to the Copa del Rey round of 32 clash away to Segunda Division side Cultural Leonesa on Thursday evening as they look to bounce back to winning ways.
