Promising Ghanaian defender, Edward Sarpong has expressed his desire to play for Portuguese giants Benfica later in his career.
The youngster is currently contracted to Portuguese side CF Esperança and is expected to be key in the ongoing campaign.
Speaking in a recent interview, he has shared that it is his dream to one day play for Portuguese champions Benfica, citing that it gives young players the opportunity of securing moves to top clubs in Europe.
“I want to play for Benfica because they are one of the clubs that normally and always give the youth opportunity to play and most of these players develop to become good players, for example like Jaoa Felix and all that,” the 22-year-old told Sportsworldghana.com.
He added, “Seriously Benfica is my top target and I would want to play for them in the near future when the opportunity comes”.
According to checks, Edward Sarpong has attracted interest from several top clubs in Portugal who have been impressed with his inputs for his parent club.
He is now with the Black Meteors team as they continue preparations for that crucial double-header against Algeria for this year’s u-23 CHAN.
