Ghanaian striker Majeed Waris marks Strasbourg debut against AS Monaco

Ghana international Abdul Majeed Waris marked his Strasbourg debut in their 3-1 away win over AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The 28-year-old was introduced into the game in the 85th minute of the game to replace French striker Ludovic Ajorque.

Strasbourg  took the lead before half-time through Ajorque in the 40th minute after receiving a sublime assist from Lucien Kevin Zohi.

Adrien Thomasson and Stefan Mitrovic then increased the lead before former Manchester City and Inter Milan striker Stevan Jovetic scored a consolattion goal for Monaco in the 86th minute.

The win lifts Strasbourg to 7th on the league table with 30 points from 21 games, one point behind 6th placed Lille.

Waris joined Strasbourg from FC Porto on a two-year deal, having subsequently been loaned out to Nantes for the 2018/19 season, making 33 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
