Ghanaian striker Majeed Waris satisfied with Strasbourg's draw against Lyon

Ghana and Strasbourg striker Majeed Waris is pleased with his side's 1-1 stalemate with Olympique Lyon in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Waris provided an assist for Strasbourg as they sealed a vital away point at the Groupama Stadium.

"A point away from home not bad at all. Thanks to everyone for their support. Let’s keep fighting together. Allez Racing.Happy to give that important assist as well,' he posted on social media after the game. 

The 28-year-old has been in fine form since joining the club on loan from Portuguese giants FC Porto in the January transfer window.

He scored in two successive games against Toulouse and Reims which ended in victories with Le Racing keeping clean sheets.

Burkina Faso international Bertrand Traore opened the scoring for Lyon in the 21st minute of the game.

However, three minutes before the half-time whistle, Waris' supplied a fine pass to Mali midfielder Kevin Kohi who fired past the goalkeeper to draw level.

Both teams chances had chances to seal all three points but they failed to convert them as the game ended 1-1.

Waris lasted for 82 minutes and was replaced by South African star Lebo Mothiba.

The result lifted Strasbourg to seventh on the league table with 37 points after 25 matches played.
